ADF's Zimbabwe Program

In Zimbabwe, the Zimbabwe Development Foundation Trust (ZDFT) is dedicated to enabling an increasing number of disadvantaged Zimbabweans to develop their potential, fulfill their aspirations, and enjoy an improved standard of living. Toward that end, ZDFT works closely with its grantees to ensure that their projects and businesses are managed profitably, effectively, and sustainably. ZDFT's core strategies include:

1. Providing technical assistance and support to underserved groups

2. Developing and replicating new models for community investment

3. Establishing strategic partnerships with national and local governments, other donor agencies, and local businesses to support sustainable development, and

4. Encouraging the government, local authorities, and donors to increase the use of participatory development "best practices."

In addition to financial resources, ZDFT provides training to its grantees in such areas as production practices, financial management, marketing, corporate governance, and life skills.
