Funds will seek to establish, expand and refurbish existing vegetable gardens at six mission hospitals in Manicaland province utilizing drip irrigation. At least  26 metric tons of vegetables will be produced each year per institutional hospital garden.

General Agriculture and Plantation Workers Union of Zimbabwe (GAPWUZ)

2010- 2013  $250,000

Livelihood Project: GAPWUZ is a trade union that was formed to provide 700 internally displaced ex-farm workers and their families in Manicaland, Mashonaland, and Midlands with training and materials to help them pursue in-come generating activities (both agriculture-related and non-agriculture related). ADF Funds are being used to pro-vide training and start-up supplies to ex-farm workers to begin income generating activities including small livestock farming, organic farming, fruit production, home gardening, beekeeping, fence making, and carpentry.

   
2296 Zimbabwe Down's Syndrome Association (ZDSA) 2011- 2012  $97,540 Food Production (Peanut Butter): ZDSA is a welfare organization that implements programs to improve the livesof people living with Down’s syndrome. The group has experience managing a peanut butter production and market-ing operation, however, the enterprise collapsed during the Zimbabwe financial crisis. The grant will build the capac-ity of ZDSA to manage a peanut butter production and marketing enterprise. ADF Funds are being used develop acomprehensive business plan; procure peanut butter processing machines; acquire additional raw materials; andstrengthen the organization’s financial and business management systems.  
2302 Zimbabwe Parents of Handicapped  Children Association - Bulawayo 2010- 2013  $249,927 Nutrition: ZPHCA is a welfare organization whose purpose is to advocate for the rights of children living with disa-bilities and provide social and livelihood support to their parents. ADF funds are being used to provide training, in-puts, and land to 100 parents of handicapped children to do nutritional gardening in Bulawayo. Approximately 10hectares of land outside of Bulawayo will be developed and irrigation infrastructure, including a borehole, will beinstalled on the land, along with a cement perimeter fence and a structure to house tools and a guard. ZPHCA willprovide inputs and garden plots within the communal garden space to members, who will use them to grow vegeta-bles for consumption and sale.      
2307 Southern Africa Federation of the  Disabled (SAFOD) 2010- 2012  $84,996 Cooperative Agreement: Bulawayo-based registered not-for-profit social welfare organization that provides supportand services to persons with disabilities. Through this CA, SAFOD will provide training, technical assistance, andimplementation support to eight disabled persons organizations.     
2312 Zimbabwe Albino Association (ZIMAS) 2010- 2012  $84,996 Food Production (Poultry): ZIMAS is a Welfare Organization that provides social support for its members livingwith albinism. This grant aims to allow ZIMAS to generate their own funds to sustain and expand the provision oflife saving sunscreens and medical screening instead of relying on donor funding. ADF funds are being used to con-struct a poultry run and an office on 10 hectares of land; purchase chicks, feed, and other inputs for a poultry opera-tion; drill a borehole to ensure consistent access to water; provide training in poultry production; and improve theorganization’s financial management capabilities.
